Cheek implants, or malar augmentation, are a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to enhance the volume and definition of the cheekbones. This is done by inserting silicone or other biocompatible materials into the cheeks to create a fuller, more contoured appearance. The surgeon makes small incisions either inside the mouth or just under the eyes to insert the implants. The procedure is usually performed under local or general anesthesia, and recovery time ranges from one to two weeks.
